Mr. James Walthes

BIO: Command Sergeant Major James E. Walthes (retired) is a native of Mascoutah, IL. He enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1970.

His assignments include Command Sergeant Major of the 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery and of the 10th Air Defense Artillery Brigade in Germany. Additionally, he served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 32nd Army Air Defense Command, followed by Post Command Sergeant Major, United States Army Air Defense Artillery Center at Fort Bliss, TX. His next assignment was Command Sergeant Major, United States European Command, Stuttgart, Germany, and his final assignment was as the Commandant of the United States Army Drill Sergeant School, Fort Jackson, SC, until June 2000.

Since his retirement in January 2001, Mr. Walthes has been employed with United States Army Training and Doctrine Command. He serves as Director of the Proponent Integration Development Division (PDID). He oversees the Proponent Programs of Basic Combat Training, Drill Sergeant and Advanced Individual Training Platoon Sergeant programs. As the senior civilian, he also serves as the principal consultant providing advice and assistance in mission accomplishment over the wide spectrum of IMT training programs.

Mr. Walthes possesses a Master of Arts degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University.
